Ceramic protection tubes are used in extreme high temp atmospheres often found in Petroleum production calciner roofs, glass melting, kilns and chemical processing.
Ceramic protection tubes provide closed end protection from elevated temperatures for noble metal thermocouple and base metal thermocouples. Ceramic protection tubes are available here in sizes from 3/8” O.D. to 1” O.D. process threads are also available.
- Alumina (Al2O3) is a hard, chemically resistant material that withstands temperatures to 3450°F (1900°C) it possesses a high purity grade above 99%, fair resistance to thermal shock, recommend preheating to 900°F (482°C). It provides gas tight protection for noble metal thermocouples.
- Mullite (3Al2O3 • 2SiO2) it has good mechanical strength, withstands temperatures to 3100°F (1700°C) it has a poor resistance to thermal shock and must be preheated to 900°F (482°C). It provides gas tight protection for base metal thermocouples to 2400°F (1316°C).
